In the framework of the International Workers Memorial Day (IWMD), the EFBWW signed a joint declaration with all four employers’ organisations: FIEC – the European Construction Industry Federation, with CEI-Bois - the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries, with EFIC - the European Furniture Industries Confederation, and with EPF - the European Panel Federation.
The organisations are committed to support the recognition of healthy and safe workplaces as a fundamental right by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
A global consensus for such a change will encourage the application of good occupational health and safety standards and discourage countries and companies from seeking competitive advantage based on substandard conditions and practices.
This action is part of the EFBWW and the Building and Woodworker’s International (BWI) joint campaign to commemorate the International Workers’ Memorial Day (IWMD) on 28 April 2021 with the slogan "Health and Safety is our right".
