EFBWW Urges Heidelberg Materials to Engage in Social Dialogue

24/09/2025

Today, the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW), together with its affiliates the trade unions present within Heidelberg Materials in Europe and respective EWC members organised a symbolic demonstration at the headquarters of Heidelberg Materials, in Heidelberg, Germany, with the aim to show our dedication to initiating genuine and constructive social dialogue within the company.

We were disappointed to note that, despite our previous letter and invitation to meet, no representative from Heidelberg Materials came to greet us or engage in dialogue. This silence is especially concerning given the uncertainty expressed by workers about the future of the company and its lack of social dialogue practises.

We continue to believe that open and constructive dialogue between management, its workers and workers’ representatives is essential to successfully address the challenges ahead, such as the green transition, CO₂ reduction, and maintaining high health and safety standards.

EFBWW will continue its efforts and mobilization in the hope that workers will be heard, their information and consultation rights respected and be given the space they deserve to be part of shaping the future of Heidelberg Materials.
