EFBWW POSITION PAPER: PROTECTING WORKERS FROM HEAT AND EXTREME WEATHER

Occupational health and safety risks from climate change and extreme weather in the construction and wood sectors

Climate change makes work more dangerous. EFBWW calls for stronger EU occupational safety and health rules to protect outdoor workers in construction, building materials wood and forestry from heat, storms, floods, cold extremes, UV exposure and other climate-related risks. The position paper sets out concrete demands for updated legislation, prevention measures, income protection during weather-related work stoppages, better training, better data and effective enforcement.
