The general objective of this project is to ensure that workers are fully aware of their rights relating to pay, conditions of employment and access to trade union representation as necessary.
Numerous incidents across Europe have demonstrated that labour and working standards in the sectors are being ignored in the industry.
Poor working environment, excessive working hours, poor pay, illegal wage deductions and job insecurity, inadequate training, health and safety risks are just some of the injustices facing workers in the sectors across Europe.
The construction, wood and cement sectors are in need of reform. Access to collective bargaining information is poor and also one of the reasons it is difficult to attract labour into the sectors.
The EFBWW, its affiliates and the EWC members they represent, wish to work towards strengthening collective bargaining rights and improving working conditions in the sector.
The project has three main objectives:
- To strengthen cross-border trade union cooperation, coordination and assistance in the formation and proper functioning of European Works Councils.
- To strengthen collective bargaining rights and access to collective bargaining information at national and European level,
- To improve and strengthen the working and employment conditions in the European construction, wood and cement sectors.
The aim of the project is to conduct a mapping exercise identifying in the sectors where there are deficienciesin knowledge of collective bargaining rights, pay, terms and conditions of employment and access to trade union representation as necessary.
